Aim: To provide a basic knowledge of the most commonly used and misused drugs, their effects including signs and symptoms, street names and legal status, along with the impact of drug misusing parents on children.
By the end of the sessions, delegates will be familiar with:
- The most commonly used/misused drugs, including their street names, legal status and prices.
- What makes a young person more vulnerable to drug misuse and the protective factors that build resilience for young people.
- How our attitudes can become barriers towards working with young people who use drugs.
- The physical and psychological risks associated with using/misusing drugs and alcohol.
- The impact of drug/alcohol misusing parents on children.
- Treatment options and help lines available.
